Location and travel

The ‘Villa medicea di Artimino’,  http://www.artimino.com/  ,  is located in the beautiful hills of Tuscany, nearby Florence, where time lags for many years. Indeed, the conference is named after this Villa since the conference’s revival in 2011, which was held in this extraordinary location. Imagine the olive trees, blue skies, the green fields around, and the swimming pool, and let yourself be inspired by this amazing scenery.

Ground transportation
Participants will meet in Piazzale Montelungo (Piazza Monte Lungo Firenze), very close to the Florence Central Railway Station (Firenze Santa Maria Novella) on Sunday, June 11, at 2:30 pm. The first coach leaves at 3:00 pm. A second coach will leave at 3:15 pm.

You should reach the bus stop by walking within the Railway station. First follow the signs ‘Ai binari 17 , 18’ (left picture below). Still walking inside the station area, when you see, below on your right, a large road, take the pathway down to the bus stop (right picture below).

The journey from downtown Florence to Artimino should be approximately 45’-60’ long.

If you know –e.g. due to travel planning–  that you cannot reach the meeting point in time, or you will provide your own transportation to Artimino, please let the organizers know as soon as possible.

On June 14, two coaches will leave from Artimino around 2:30 pm. One of the coaches will stop at the Airport (presumed arrival time 3:30 pm). Both will conclude their trip in Piazza Monte Lungo.

See the “Accommodation and Registration” page for details.

Single and double occupancy rooms will be available at the Hotel Paggeria Medicea, right in front of the Villa Medicea where the Conference room is located. Please note that the number of Hotel rooms is very limited, and the organizers may not accommodate all requests for hotel rooms.
